[Editorial] The New Freelance Writing Bonanza: Develop Your Writing Skills for the New Millennium And Collect Cash

Welcome to this week's issue of Fab Freelance Writing Ezine. I hope you find it useful.

In the coming weeks, I'll be running a series of articles - "The New Freelance Writing Bonanza: Develop Your Writing Skills for the New Millennium And Collect Cash" discussing writing methods and markets which are totally new to most freelance writers.

The first article in our series is "Blogs And Blogging - The High-Paying New Market For Freelance Writers", and I'll be presenting other new markets and writing opportunities for you over the next several weeks.

Since these markets are so new, it's a way for you to get in on the ground floor, and become an expert. Experts in any field can always charge a premium for their work. If you build up expertise in these new fields, you can leverage that expertise in the future. So, although there's a slight learning curve, the pay-off is more than worth it.

Have fun exploring the exciting new world of blogs and blogging!

All best wishes

Angela

P.S. Questions? Contact me with any questions you have at any time about freelance writing and freelancing in general. I'll usually reply in one of the blogs, so watch for your answers there.

** How Do You Manage To Write So Much? **

At least a couple of times a week, I get an email message from a writer who wonders how and why I'm so prolific.

The answer is simple. I taught myself how to produce. You can do it too. In my new ebook, "Top 70 Writing Tips To Help You To Write More," you'll discover 70 ways in which you can write more, no matter who you are, or what your level of writing experience -

I've had great reviews of this ebook, and I'm thrilled that it helps other writers to make the most of their writing talents.

* Freelance Writing Tip Of The Week: Put your new writing knowledge into action

I spend much of every day reading. The rest of the day I spend writing. Dean Koontz once said there were only two things a writer needs to do: read and write. That covers it all.

One of the favourite "reading" resources which I visit every day is BlogLines, the blog aggregator/ feed reader at
http://www.bloglines.com/

It's packed with useful information - too much information. The challenge is to USE what I read. If I get too deeply into just reading, I'm entertaining myself, and this is fine, but not in working hours.

So I've developed the habit of using what I read. If I read a tip that's a great idea, I make a note of HOW I can use that tip, and I try to use it right away.

For example, I found a great tip a day ago on how to make your blog more useful for readers. The challenge with the blog format is that each blog item stands alone. Therefore, you can have great material in items which are a year or two old, that new readers will never find, because they don't go digging in the archives. So my new aim developed via this tip is to end each blog item, if possible, with a couple of "related" links to material in the archives.

Try it. Aim to find just ONE tip or idea a day, that you put into action immediately.

* Article: Blogs And Blogging - The High-Paying New Market For Freelance Writers

(c) Copyright 2006 Angela Booth. All Rights Reserved.

Freelance writers are discovering a massive new writing market: blogs.

Blogs which attract lots of readers need frequent updates, so blogs are word-eating monsters. Writers who write for the most popular blogs generate an amazing amount of material, anywhere from two to ten or more blog posts (short articles, which may consist of anywhere from twenty to several hundred words) each and every day. This means that every blog needs writers, and because blogs are becoming so popular with Web sites, many businesses and publications are actively looking for freelance writers who know how to blog.

Businesses are discovering the major benefits of blogs

In your Web surfing, you may have noticed that not only do news sites have blogs, but many other sites are also jumping onto the blog bandwagon. Blogs are becoming the new "must have" of the Web world.

There's one reason for this: the Web search engines, like Google and Yahoo. The search engines love blogs, visiting them frequently to add blogs to their indexes. This means that a Web site can get an amazing amount of traffic very quickly. Targeted traffic translates to sales and money. As more and more businesses swarm online, and discover blogs, they hire freelance writers to blog for them.

How much can you earn as a freelance blogger?

The pay for freelance blogging gigs varies, as you might expect. At the top end of the market large companies and blog networks pay $1000 (and more) a week, while at the low end of the market small businesses offer around $50 dollars a week.

Your pay, as a professional freelance blogger, depends on the payment that you negotiate for yourself. The pay you can demand depends on: your blogging experience, your writing experience, your ideas, and most of all, on your confidence in your skills.

A word of warning: don't blog for free. There are plenty of paying gigs to go around, so look for them.

Getting blogging gigs: it's very easy

Getting all the blogging gigs you can handle is easy. I'll run through the simple steps for you.

1. Get your own blog, via a free service like Google's Blogger.com. This blog acts as your blogger's portfolio. It takes a couple of minutes to set up. Post several items to your blog. In the sidebar, place a small "for hire" notice, with your contact details.

2. Look for blogging gigs online using Google.

3. Approach companies and tell them you're available for hire as a freelance blogger.

4. Make friends with other bloggers by leaving comments on their blogs. Let the bloggers know you're looking for freelance blogging work.

If you've read this article and wondered "is that all there is to getting steady freelance blogging gigs?" the short answer is, yes.

There are many reasons why blogging has become popular so quickly, and why blogs will continue to be part of the online environment. No business can afford to ignore blogging, and this means that for the foreseeable future, blogging is a brilliant new market for freelance writers.

Get started getting freelance blogging gigs today. Just follow the simple steps in this article.

http://abmagic.com/reports/intro.html

Currently, there are two reports, how to get copywriting clients, and a "what to write" copywriting report, which tells you what the three highest-paying copywriting gigs are. Note: these three top gigs don't require a high level of experience, so they're great gigs for new copywriters.
